Size: up to 90 mm

Description: upperside coloration grey, light-olive, brown, yellowish or rufous with triangle-shaped dark ear spots, flanks, limbs and backs are covered with dark dots; underside white or yellow

Habitat: a wide variety of damp habitats near ponds or marshes

Activity: diurnal and nocturnal

Diet: various invertebrates

Reproduction: breeding period lasts from March to June depending on location, but generally in April over the main part of their range
