Description: upperside is brown or dark brown with irregular yellow spots and two thick yellow or orange stripes from behind the eyes to the groin. Underside is mottled yellowish brown. Males have a black throat
Habitat: wetlands, riverbanks, forest edges, agricultural and urban areas
Activity: nocturnal
Diet: various invertebrates
Reproduction: breeding period lasts from May to July. Eggs are laid into the water
