Description: upperside varies from dark-grayish to brown with large dark spots, underside is orange or red with large black spots
Habitat: wetlands, shallow stagnant lakes, ponds, flooded rice fields
Activity: diurnal and nocturnal, hibernation occurs from October to late March
Diet: various invertebrates
Reproduction: breeding period occurs in April-July
